Longinus, a blind Roman centurion, is given the menial post of keeping watch over an execution involving three men to be hung on crosses. In one life changing moment, Longinus' sight is restored, along with a newfound realization that God exists. Full of guilt, he decides to flee into the desert to atone for his actions and to discover the meaning of life. While out in the desert, he is mauled by a lion every night, until he finally begins to find God in the wilderness.
